Can an assistant gather info and create variables the tools can use? How?

For example, during the chat, I'd like to prompt the assistant to ask for the users email address; then use that address to read a row from a supabase table.

I think the secret is in the auto fill, but I'm not finding any explicit documentation on it... I like magic too but for example when you guys do auto fill in your videos it is almost skipped over... In one video the json is specified in a particular format for Rowy, but it's not clear how to markup variables that will be replaced by the ai, and if the format should differ for different nodes.

Can anyone point me towards something for further study on this?
